Style Never Repeats It’s self. Man Always Does

It happened. The style we all thought would never make a come back, came back…… The 80’s. And hauntingly so! Those big plastic earrings, the cone shaped pants in varieties of synthetic fabrics; big, bold prints that allowed no one to escape your presents, and, those dramatic hair styles!

What becomes a la mode obviously could happen with any style. Again. And is a “new” style actually new?

The study of clothes have always given historians a fuller understanding of people, culture, and society. Colors, fibers, and styles played an important role in defining who you were just as much then as now. Clothes tells us things about the person. About you.

What does your clothes say about you?

Wondering when these will again make their rounds??historical picture         It is not a matter of IF, but a matter of when

slops history        “Slops gradually increased in size between 1565 and 1575, often reaching vast proportions, and were in shape like a pumpkin.” –Tudor Costume and Fashion

Rousseau said “history never repeats it’s self, man always does…..”

Shall we go shopping?

In the next few articles that I will post, I will give a historical view of some of the modern styles that have been popular in this decade……. In my spare time, of course, which seems to be few and far between ;-)
